Hypercrite

Hypocrite seemed  a bit lacking for today’s subject, so pardon my coining of  a  new term. Good ole D avid Letterman, former king of late night, Sarah Palin  obsessor, Mark Sanford critiquer(although I can understand that) among other things. Seems  that Dave has been a busy boy of late. He just married his long time girlfriend, Regina Lasko, this year. She is also the mom of his child.

Seems that monogamy has not agreed with Dave. News reports surfacing yesterday and today have him admitting to liaisons with several staff members (must have been difficult to tell the boss no) over the years. His admission followed news of an attempted extortion  plot by an Emmy  CBS producer, Robert Halderman, or so it is alleged.

So many questions.  Would Letterman have fessed up without the plot? Should he have fessed up at all? Will CBS fire him( that on is a joke) ? Will Sarah Palin have her own Top 10 Letterman list?

And, just for fun, should CBS fire him, what would he do? I have an idea. Maybe he and Jimmy Carter could be the first two residents of the Home for People Who Have Outlasted Their Stay in the Public Eye. So many choices there. But the pedagogical Mr Carter, reverting back to his habit of lecturing others as to where they are wrong and he isn’t, gets the nod. He told CNN that he did not say Obama protesters were racist. In fact, he said go back and read it yourself. If you do, he did.

Wonder what the feminists will have to say about this situation? Clue, nada.

  1. I’m sorry, I missed the part of the instruction manual that said a man cannot have sex with a woman when neither is married. At least one of these women, it seems, had an affair with Letterman back in 2003. That makes him persona non grata?

Turn the channel if you don’t like Letterman, but cease and desist on the needless bashing. Just because Dave doesn’t worship the ground that Sister Sarah walks on doesn’t mean he’s the Devil incarnate. Many of us find his thorough gigging of Caribou Barbie pretty amusing.

  2. Looks like you may have jumped a bit prematurely.

The woman who Letterman had the affair with, back in 2003, wound up being the live-in girlfriend of the guy who tried to blackmail Letterman. And she’s supposedly appalled that the guy tried to blackmail Letterman.

Consenting unmarried adults = OK in the real world.

  3. It seem you have no respect for the law larrys! I take it the New York City-based civil attorney does not agree with you larrys!

It was unclear how many women were involved in relationships with Letterman

David Lande, a New York City-based civil attorney whose cases have included sexual harassment, said Letterman presumably was in a position of power with a voice in hiring, firing and promotions.
“So, to the extent that he had control over these factors with the women he was involved with, he could be subject to liability,” he said. “I am sure CBS lawyers are reviewing the matter very carefully.”
Shanti Atkins, president of ELT, a firm that consults on ethics and sex in the workplace issues, said Letterman, his company and CBS could also be vulnerable to claims of sexual favoritism by others in the company if they believe people got ahead because they were sleeping with the boss.

  4. Sexual harassment is certainly against the law. But there have been no allegations of sexual harassment. in this case…. at least, not yet. When and if that happens, that’s a different matter.

So an unmarried comedian had sex with women? Wow.

How does that stack up against the South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, a married man with kids who basically abandoned his family AND his state for a long weekend fling with his Argnetine lover?

Or Nevada Senator John Ensign, who cheated on his wife, with the wife of his own chief of staff? And then paid off the mistress and her husband? And used ANOTHER Senator, Tom Coburn (R-OK) to be his “bagman” in the payoff?

Much ado about nothing. If Letterman hadn’t so effectively, humorously, and continually lampooned Silliy Sister Sarah, it wouldn’t matter one whit to the rightwing blogosphere.

  5. Ethics and sex in the workplace is a serious issue larrys! Letterman hung himself!

  6. Sex between consenting adults isn’t illegal, moron, even among co-workers. And it has nothing to do with ethics. Since it looks like this all occurred years and years ago, it doesn’t appear that harassment is likely, or else we would have heard complaints being made by the women by now.

  7. Letterman is fine; he never was the “Family Values” type. Yes, he probably cheated on his girlfriend now wife. But at least he does go around claiming he is Mr. “Family Values” like some of our politicians (can you just see the grin on all “Fake News” reporters/commentators). This has been a tough summer, for Dave, for our economy but at least he did not end up on the “Republican 2009 Summer of Love” list: Assemblyman, Michael D. Duvall (CA), Senator John Ensign (NV), Senator Paul Stanley (TN), Governor Mark Stanford (SC), Board of Ed Chair, and Kristin Maguire AKA Bridget Keeney (SC).

  8. We shall see larrys!

I repeat what Shanti Atkins, president of ELT said ” Letterman, his company and CBS could also be vulnerable to claims of sexual favoritism by others in the company if they believe people got ahead because they were sleeping with the boss.”

  9. Maybe you should read this larrys, but being a liberal democrat you will not agree with what it says I’m sure!

  10. John Phillips and Roman Polanski have nothing in common with Dave Letterman, except they all had sex. And despite your personal life, GTP, there are,in fact, many adult Americans that HAVE sex. With another person, even. And not an inflatable one.

  11. What ever happen to the Liberal’s morals, it seem ok for them to have sex with several of their employees without any shame at all…. where is their work ethics?

    Comment by goodtimepolitics | October 4, 2009 | Reply

  12. If you’re doing it right, GTP, sex isn’t work. So a work ethic isn’t truly necessary. (That said, I do commiserate with the work you must go through to blow up Dolly.)

  13. larrys I see where you’re coming from…yes the far left so be careful and not fall off the farside of nowhere! To me marriage means something and sex with every female around me isn’t right in by way of thinking!
The liberals has lost their way!
