Feeling Global Warming?

Have you ever wished for a do over or a say over? Maybe you said something  and as soon as the words went forth, you reached out to try and  grab them? Well, I wonder if Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D, MI feels just a little like that? The Michigan senator was recently appointed to the Senate Energy Committee and perhaps to celebrate that event she made some  interesting observations to the Detroit News. as reported by Henry Payne of the Detroit News she said, ” Climate change is very real ( well, duh, it changes every day and sometimes multiple times) , Global warming creates volatility. I feel it when I am flying. The storms are more volatile. We are paying the price in more hurricanes and tornadoes.” There is a lot of interesting stuff in there. But let us hone in on just one sentence- “I feel it when I am flying.” Now, admittedly, I don’t fly a lot so I cannot speak as any kind of expert. But Mrs THT just returned from a round trip flight to Atlanta and did not report feeling any global warming. A bit of turbulence perhaps, but no global warming reported.

It would be easy and  kinda fun to laugh at a statement like this and if I made it at work tomorrow, I would get some laughs or perhaps some strange looks. But, come on now, this lady is a  United States senator and is in  a  position to influence legislation that could have a dramatic effect on energy costs, legislation, etc. And she feels global warming. Somebody, say it  ain’t so.

Do you think if someone gave her the quote about if you don’t like the weather now, wait a minute  and it will change, she would even tie that in to global warming, uh, climate change?  I saw some climate change over the weekend when it rained buckets. Does that count?  Our Senators from North Carolina don’t seem to say really cool stuff like this. Should I be happy or unhappy? Just wondering. And, just one more. Is the weather a Democrat or a Republican?

  1. Warm weather is a Democrat; cold weather is a Republican. And I have felt global warming when flying. It’s that brief period of time when the overhead fan stops and the cabin instantly warms 20 degrees.

  2. Obama owns the banks, GM Motors, working on owning our health care insurance companies and next I guessing he will go after our weather because there not to much more he can take over!

The old saying ” I can feel a change in the weather” the birds are flying South! The squirrels are expecting a cold winter, cause they’re stocking up on nuts! NUTS? Is those nuts democrats is the question! LOL

  4. Being from Alaska, I have seen first hand the effects of global warming. I have witnessed glaciers calve off in monumental proportions.

In fact, I found a disturbing, yet spectacular movie that shows global warming footage of calving glaciers. Huge chunks of ice breaking off into the ocean! You can find this film called “Alaska, The Tracy Arm Experience” on Film Baby HERE:

I highly recommend buying Alaska, The Tracy Arm Experience. Watch the glaciers disappear before your eyes and show your friends and family what is really going on in Alaska.

  5. And so tracyarmalaska do you think my any chance that Obama’s cash for clunkers will help to stop global warming when most cars that are traded in gets only 2 miles per gallon more than the car people then buys? Or Al Gore is stopping global warming by run around the World with his private jet? And Obama don’t forget has travel more in his first six months than any president in History. Come on now! The Earth has been changing from the time of the great explosion that ceated it. Plants use CO2 and so what will happen to trees and plants if we were to get rid of Co2 completely?
Just asking if you have the answers to all the above?

I spent a few years in Fairbanks, Alaska in the 60’s and now watch a weather cam there and it still gets just as cold now as it got back then. I’m now back in North Carolina my birth State and the weather is the same and I can not feel any change in 68 years! Why is that?

  6. This below backs up what I was saying above!

Official government measurements show that the world’s temperature has cooled a bit since reaching its most recent peak in 1998.

Proposals to combat global warming are “crazy” and will “destroy more than a million good American jobs and increase the average family’s annual energy bill by at least $1,500 a year,” the Heartland Institute, a conservative research organization based in Chicago, declared in full-page newspaper ads earlier this summer. “High levels of carbon dioxide actually benefit wildlife and human health,” the ads asserted.
