About the Author
At the risk of restating the obvious,I am a faithful tarheel. You will notice my fondness for political topics, generally from a conservative point of view. I enjoy mixing in humor from time to time on almost every topic. As the mood may strike, oddball topics will find a home as well. It is not my intention to share all the minutiae of my life , because after all, I don’t tweet or show my face on the book and it would probably be boring anway. Having said that, it is appropriate to toss a few things out there. I have been quite happily married for a while with 2 children and 2 grans and another on the way. Needless to say, my wife does not always approve of my musings but she does tolerate them, even to the point of being known as Mrs THT. Suffice to say that I am now a resident of the small northeastern North Carolina town of Elizabeth City but have lived in a number of other places including a few other small North Carolina towns and one relatively large city in Georgia. Hint, it is not Atlanta, ok it was Columbus. Hopefully, this will help me to avoid any tendencies I might have at being provincial
Politics and sports are high on my agenda and you will find liberal doses of humor as mentioned before and a measure of irony from time to time. I am flattered by comments, whether they agree with me or not. I firmly believe that one should always be open to others’ point of view. Disagreement should never prevent discussion.
In the interest of nothing in particular, here are a few fast facts.
Favorite authors include the late Robert Parker ( whose Spenser series I am collecting) , Joel Rosenberg, Daniel Silva, James Patterson and Jan Karon. I stay focused on my goal of reading at least one book about each of our 43 presidents. ( As of Sept 2011 I am 33 of 43.) It is not as easy as one might think, but is quite rewarding. I am of the opinion that one can always glean insights from studying the past. Politicians in particular should heed that unsolicited advice.
Musical tastes are all over the map. I listen somewhat regularly to Caedmon’s Call, the Carpenters, Darlene Zschech and Hillsong and the Seekers. Having written that I am surprised to note artists of today and others that go back to my childhood. When you are perusing Itunes, give some of these artists a listen. You might be pleasantly surprised.
I even have cartoon favs. They would be George of the Jungle( original version), the Penguins of Madagascar and the legendary Roadrunner and Coyote. What happened to the days of Rocky and Bullwinkle and friends? I would be remise without mentioning our favorite tv series of NCIS. I have oft remarked that I enjoy its previews more than most shows.
Oh yes, even though we have been privileged to have both, dogs are way better than cats!!
One more thought, all conservatives are not evil, clownish loons no matter what you may read elsewhere.

Dear THT –
Thanks so much for your kind comment re my 9/11 post. However, I am afraid I am new at this blog thing (yours is my first comment and I was SO tickled) and have accidentally deleted it. I would be ever so grateful if you could re-send it, and I promise not to goof it up this time!
In the meantime, I have been taking a look at your writings (“ramblings” as I call my own drivel) and enjoying them quite well, particularly your 9/11 entry, for which I will be leaving a comment.
Thanks again, and sorry for the bother!
Heather
